KLMR Homes Revitalizing Phoenix’s Real Estate Landscape

KLMR Homes, a privately held real estate developer founded in 2021, has quickly emerged as a dynamic force in Phoenix’s real estate market. The company closed escrow on its first project in October of that year and has since acquired two additional projects in Cave Creek.

KLMR Homes distinguishes itself from the competition through its experienced team of homebuilding executives, led by Jeff Garrett as CEO, Karen Dresher as COO, Greg Dahl as VP Construction, and Alan Hall as VP Legal and Land Acquisition. For this article, we had the great opportunity to interview one of the founders, Alan Hall. “We’re excited about the progress we’ve made so far and are looking forward to announcing even more projects in the near future,” says Alan.

A Deep Connection to the Valley

Alan is a Phoenix native, having lived in the Valley for 62 years. His deep connection to the area is evident in his reflections on the region’s growth. As a hobby, his dad ran cattle on the west side of the White Tank Mountains. To Alan’s amazement, homes are now being built where he once used to round up stray cattle. This lifelong relationship with the Valley gives Alan a unique perspective on the city’s development and a deep appreciation for the community he serves.

Alan’s career in homebuilding began unexpectedly. Originally a transaction lawyer, he was asked by a friend to serve as division counsel for a public homebuilder. This experience inspired and ignited a passion for the complexity, strategy, and fulfillment that comes with building homes.

A Passion for Building – The Joy of Homebuilding

Alan’s journey in homebuilding spans over 20 years, with his partners bringing even more extensive experience to the table. He takes pride in being part of a team that grew a private homebuilder into the 85th largest builder in the country. Their expertise and dedication to that company ultimately led to the company’s sale to a national homebuilder looking to expand its market share in Metropolitan Phoenix.

After the previous company they worked for was sold to a national homebuilder in 2020, the team knew they wanted to continue doing what they loved. With a strong desire to provide quality homes in a market with limited availability, they launched KLMR Homes. KLMR’s mission is clear: to build homes that meet the needs of the community while maintaining a high standard of quality.

Reviving Forgotten Communities

The ability to breathe new life into neglected communities is what KMLR Homes is known for. One such example is the Bellos at The Summit project in Fountain Hills. This long-forgotten community, which had been partially built-out since the early 2000s, was revitalized by KLMR Homes. They saw an opportunity to bring this long-forgotten neighborhood back to life. He explains the company revamped the architecture and introduced modern designs that resonate with today’s homebuyers. The original residents are thrilled to see their neighborhood completed, while new homeowners are captivated by the modern finishes and breathtaking views.

The company’s ability to be nimble and opportunistic has allowed it to secure unique projects that others have overlooked. This strategic approach, paired with high-quality design and a fresh perspective, has brought new energy to the Phoenix homebuilding industry.

For Alan, the joy of homebuilding goes beyond the business itself. He finds great fulfillment in the opportunity to collaborate with friends and partners he has known and respected for over two decades and this deep-rooted connection makes the process of creating homes even more rewarding. “There’s nothing quite like handing over the keys to a new homeowner – it’s a moment that never gets old,” Alan says with a smile.

Building A Strong Partnership with RBAZ

In September 2023, KLMR Homes began its partnership with RBAZ, working closely with Patrick Sutter, Commercial Lender, and Melissa Roberson, Loan Operations Manager. Alan has known Patrick for 40 years and has worked with him for 20, he recalls. When it came time to secure financing, Patrick was the logical choice as his strong background in residential construction lending made him the perfect fit for KLMR’s needs.

“The personal attention and professionalism provided by RBAZ have solidified this important relationship. We see Republic Bank of Arizona as a key trade partner and look forward to growing together,” – Alan Hall.

Life Beyond Work

Outside of work, Alan finds solace and inspiration in the great outdoors. Whether it’s recharging in nature or spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities are a cherished way to unwind. A recent fishing trip outside of West Yellowstone is just one example of how Alan connects with the natural world, finding inspiration and relaxation in America’s national parks.
